Nelly Korda Secures Fifth Straight LPGA Win with Victory at Chevron Championship

Nelly Korda, the reigning world number one at 25 years old, has etched her name in LPGA history by clinching her fifth consecutive victory at the Chevron Championship. This triumph marks her second major title and her 13th career tour win.

Her two-stroke win over Sweden’s Maja Stark extends Korda’s remarkable season streak to five titles in as many starts, matching the LPGA record set by Nancy Lopez in 1978 and equaled by Annika Sorenstam in 2004/05.

Despite facing tense moments on the back nine, Korda maintained her composure and lead, ultimately fending off her competitors to claim the top prize of $1.2 million (£968,800) in the season’s first major tournament, held at Carlton Woods in suburban Houston.

The daughter of former Czech tennis star Petr Korda, Nelly Korda previously clinched her first major title at the 2021 Women’s PGA Championship and added a gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics to her impressive resume.

Her stellar performance this year includes victories at the Drive On Championship in January, the Seri Pak and Ford Championships last month, and the LPGA Match Play earlier this month.
