LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo lead in early NBA All-Star voting

Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks is dominating the Eastern Conference in early voting for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, while LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is leading the West.

Antetokounmpo has been named an NBA All-Star seven times, compared to James’ 19 appearances.

As frontcourt players, James and Antetokounmpo deserved their votes. Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks are the top guard vote-getters in the East and West, respectively. Next month, Haliburton will have the opportunity to play in front of his home crowd in the All-Star Game.

Just 50% of the data utilized to determine the starting players for the Eastern and Western Conferences will come from fan votes. Twenty-five percent will come from current players, while the remaining twenty-five percent will come from a panel of reporters.

Every fan vote cast on Friday will count as three votes in the NBA’s “3-for-1 Day” campaign. On January 11, the subsequent counting of fan votes will be made public.

In the Western Conference, Doncic and Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors top the vote at guard, while James, Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns, and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets lead the vote in the frontcourt.

In the Eastern Conference, Antetokounmpo leads at point guard while Damian Lillard of the Milwaukee Bucks and Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers and Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics lead at guard. Haliburton leads at guard.

The NBA All-Star Game in 2024 is slated to happen in Indianapolis on February 18.
