Carter Verhaeghe’s backhanded goal just shy of three minutes into overtime secured a thrilling 3-2 victory for the Florida Panthers over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 of their first-round Eastern Conference playoff clash at Sunrise, Florida.

The win marked the Panthers’ 11th consecutive playoff overtime victory, with eight of those wins coming since the commencement of the 2023 postseason. With the victory, the Panthers now hold a commanding 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Sam Bennett and Verhaeghe each contributed a goal and an assist, while Vladimir Tarasenko also found the back of the net for the Panthers. Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky turned away 21 shots to secure the win for Florida.
